About Us

AC Helicam provide solutions for aerial video, photography and surveys where traditional helicopter operations would not be possible due to operational and costs restrictions. Based in Aberdeen, Scotland, AC Helicam provides drone video services throughout the UK.

Our aerial platforms, fitted with High Definition cameras, can film in areas where traditional aerial filming would be impracticable. When comparing the cost with operating a traditional full sized helicopter, our aerial platforms are fraction of the cost and much simpler to organise .

AC Helicam provide aerial video/film, photography and survey solutions for a variety of industries and applications and all our pilots are fully qualified to operate our aerial platforms.

All of our flight operations have permission from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to operate and are always conducted in a safe manner. We have full Public Liability Insurance to a value of £5 million.

Permissions

We hold a Permission for Aerial Work (PFAW) from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) which allows us to operate commercially up to 400ft.

The CAA regulate the use of aerial platforms for Aerial Photography within the United Kingdom and we are fully compliant with all laws and regulations.

Insurances

We are a professional company and are fully insured for all aerial operations.

Our public liability insurance is specifically created for aerial operations and is valid worldwide up to the value of £5 million.

FAQ

A drone is a remotely piloted aerial platform that carries a camera for filming, surveys or photography.
Whilst there are currently no licencing for aerial drones, there is a requirement for all drone pilots to obtain Civil Aviation Authority permission for aerial work. AC Helicam pilots have udertaken all training, flight assessments and experience to obtain this permission
AC Helicam has Public Liability Insurance cover of £5m
Weather can affect our flying operations when it’s raining or in very windy conditions. AC Helicam will carry out a weather review  before and on the operations day and decide whether it’s safe to fly.
AC Helicam can fly indoors under certain conditions and AC Helicam will review each proposal to establish whether it’s safe to fly indoors
AC Helicam can only fly our drones within the conditions as laid out by the Civil Aviation Authority, as with all Civil Aviation Authority approved drone operators, which is 400 feet high maximum altitude and always within visual line of sight.
Setup time will vary  for every flight as AC Helicam will conduct a risk assessment before each flight.
 AC Helicam can fly our drones up to 400 feet high, 500 metres in distance and always within direct line of sight. Each flight can last about 15 minutes in duration before having to land and change batteries.
AC Helicam costs are £395 for a half day and £750 for  a full day. However, discounted rates are available for longer contracts.
Typically, our jobs begin with an enquiry from a client followed by a full review of the operation including a full risk assessment and site visit. Once everything has been checked, agreed and confirmed to be safe the job can go ahead
